PERRY B, The Voice of Southeast San Diego Making the Hits Worldwide
On any given day in Southeast San Diego, music echoes through the streets, a rhythm that tells the story of the city’s struggles, triumphs, and resilience. From this backdrop rose Perry B. Owens Jr, better known as Perry B, an artist who has carved out a name not only in his hometown but across the globe. His story isn’t just about music; it’s about legacy, perseverance, and the unwavering belief in hip hop’s power to uplift.
Growing Up with Sound
Perry B didn’t stumble into music; he was born into it. His childhood home was alive with sound, creating a natural classroom for rhythm and lyricism. That early immersion gave him what he calls a “natural ear” for music. But it wasn’t until 2017 that Perry B took a leap of faith, turning passion into profession by founding PB Records. From that moment, his vision became bigger than himself, a mission to tell real stories through music.
“People think it’s gangster rap,” Perry B admits with a laugh, “but what I do is tell life exactly as it is. No filters. No gimmicks. Just truth.”
Climbing the Ranks
Truth resonates, and Perry B’s career proves it. By 2019, he had already won Song of the Year, followed by back-to-back Artist of the Year awards in 2020 and 2021. From seven national tours to a global tour that took him to Ghana, Perry B’s reach has stretched far beyond San Diego.
In Ghana, he discovered something remarkable: a fan base that embraced him wholeheartedly. “Performing in West Africa was different,” he recalls. “They connected to my music on a spiritual level. It felt like home.”
And then there are the numbers:
14+ projects released
69+ music videos
Over 100 shows and events performed
A musical library boasting more than 1,500 songs
Numbers that would intimidate most artists are simply milestones for Perry B, stepping stones in a career still very much ascending.
Rubbing Shoulders with Legends
Perry B’s resume reads like a hip hop hall of fame. Over the years, he’s worked with Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg, Ty Dolla Sign, The Game, E-40, Flava Flav, Kanye West, Spice 1, Blxst, The Luniz, Joe Moses, Nef the Pharaoh, X-Raided, and more. The collaborations haven’t just expanded his audience, they’ve sharpened his craft.
“Every time you work with legends, you learn something new,” he says. “But the key is staying true to your own sound while absorbing their energy.”
The Man Behind the Mic
Despite the accolades, Perry B’s proudest role is offstage, being a father. With his parents, Perry Owens Sr. and Regina Owens, as role models of strength and guidance, he now carries those values into raising his five children: Precious, Perry, Pierre, Penelope, and Prince.
“They’re my motivation,” he says. “Every song, every show, every move I make, it’s all for them.”
Carrying Hip Hop’s Flame Forward
In an era where hip hop often faces criticism for being watered down or inauthentic, Perry B represents something rare: an artist who still believes in the genre’s power to tell stories and spark growth. His music is diverse, often introspective, and unapologetically honest.
“Hip hop saved me,” Perry B reflects. “Now I use it to give people a voice, to help them see themselves in my words.”
What’s Next for Perry B?
With more projects on the way, continued collaborations, and the growing reach of PB Records, Perry B isn’t slowing down. He’s building not just a career, but a legacy, one rooted in authenticity, family, and the streets that raised him.
From Southeast San Diego to stages in West Africa, Perry B has proven that real music, when it comes from the heart, transcends borders. His journey is far from over, but one thing is certain: the world is listening.

By TONY PRO-
T’von Shameko Jones, known in the music world as Kidd Daboo X, was born on Tuesday, October 12, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Raised primarily in his grandmother E’vonia Jones’ household, T’von grew up as the oldest sibling, alongside his younger brother and two cousins, in the Winton Terrace community on Gardenview Lane.
Early Life & Musical Spark
From an early age, T’von showed signs of creativity and passion. At just 6 years old in 2006, his mother bought him his first PlayStation beat maker, sparking his deep interest in music. That simple gift became the seed that would later grow into his dream career.
Struggles in School
Growing up, T’von faced difficulties in academics. Throughout elementary, middle, and high school, he struggled with maintaining grades. His dream of playing sports was constantly cut short because of suspensions and expulsions, which became a recurring part of his school years from the 6th grade until senior year.
The Turning Point
At 18 years old, during his senior year of high school, T’von’s life took a serious turn when he was charged with an F1 felony crime. He was sentenced to five years in prison. While incarceration could have broken him, T’von instead chose to use it as fuel for transformation.
Writing Behind Bars
During his five-year sentence, T’von dedicated himself to education and music. He began writing constantly, filling 31 composition notebooks with rhymes, lyrics, and raw emotions. He later admitted he wrote more during those five years than he ever had before in his life. Music became his therapy, discipline, and foundation for the future.
Freedom & Music Career
In 2023, at the age of 23, T’von was released. Within just six months of freedom, his persistence and talent paid off—he signed a distribution deal with Busy 1 Entertainment under the 85/15 platform. His first official studio recording was the powerful track “TES Talk”, marking the beginning of his professional journey as Kidd Daboo X.
Looking Ahead
Kidd Daboo X’s story is one of resilience, growth, and redemption. From the challenges of his youth to the lessons learned during his incarceration, he emerged with a sharpened pen, a stronger mind, and a clear vision. With his music now reaching the world, Kidd Daboo X is determined to turn his struggles into strength and his voice into a legacy.

Antonio Whitson AKA Otonio: A Story of Process, Purpose, and Music for the Sou
Antonio Whitson, known musically as Otonio, is a man on a mission one born not only from talent but also from testimony. His journey is not just about music; it is about truth, faith, and the process of transformation that so many people silently endure.
Throughout his life, Otonio had the privilege of being surrounded by people who pointed him toward God and the principles of living a faithful life. But even with that guidance, he quickly learned that having direction does not always guarantee staying on track. The real challenge, he discovered, was not simply knowing what to do, but understanding the process of walking out that faith in real life.
“I strongly believe the reason for my outcome, and for many others, is because no one really gave us the real truth about the process,” Otonio explains. “We were told about the kingdom and how we are supposed to live, but no one ever told me how the process was going to look or how I was going to have to walk that thing out, sometimes in seasons of complete loneliness.”
Those hard seasons became the greatest teachers. Through trials, setbacks, and personal struggles, Otonio found himself face-to-face with his own weaknesses but also face-to-face with the unfailing patience of God. “One thing that stuck out to me was patience,” he reflects. “God continued to have patience with me even in all my failures and shortcomings. He never gave up on me, even when I gave up on myself.”
This revelation became the foundation of his purpose. Otonio recognized that his story was not meant to remain his own it was meant to serve as a light for others navigating their own hidden battles. He has encountered countless individuals who have never set foot in a church, mosque, or any place of worship. Many have never had anyone speak life into them, or even experienced what it feels like to be guided spiritually. For them, Otonio’s story and his music can serve as that first spark of hope.
With this conviction, Otonio has turned his testimony into an artistic mission. His music is not only crafted to resonate with this generation but is also designed to bridge generations. He believes that whether young or old, churched or unchurched, everyone deserves to hear a message of life, truth, and perseverance.
“I strongly believe my music can reach those who have never heard, inspire those who are lost, and encourage those who are weary,” Otonio says. “This is not just about entertainment it’s about transformation.”
For Otonio, the future is clear: to use his voice and his story to uplift, inspire, and guide others through the very process that nearly broke him but ultimately built him. With faith, honesty, and patience as his foundation, he is set to impact lives far beyond the stage and studio.
